Day 3 - FRANKFURT/STRASBOURG, FRANCE
We travel to Strasbourg, “Petit France”, a provincial capital that mixes centuries of Roman, French, German and Alsatian influences, creating a unique character. Our fascinating city tour with a local guide will feature the Cathedral of Strasbourg, a gorgeous Roman-Catholic complex and the world’s tallest building for most of the 18th century. After your tour, free time to explore this perfectly preserved town on your own. Meals:B

Day 4 - STRASBOURG/COLMAR/STRASBOURG
Tour through the Alsace region beginning with a sixth-century winery where you sample their latest vintages and learn about world-class wine making. Then we’re off to the storybook village of Riquewihr, a beautifully preserved village. Continue to Colmar, and as we tour with our guide you will feel that you have stepped into a fairy tale. Remainder of afternoon to meander on your own through the village, a real treat! Dinner this evening at a local Strasbourg restaurant featuring regional specialties. Meals:B,D

Day 5 - STRASBOURG
The days is yours to explore Strasbourg independently or take an optional tour delving into the history of WWII including the Maginot Line, a strategic French defense system, and more! Meals:B

Day 6 - STRASBOURG/DIJON/EMBARK SHIP
We travel to the city of Dijon in Burgundy (is this where they make the mustard?) to explore the old town and the Palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. From early 11th until the late 15th century, it was home to the Dukes of Burgundy and a place of tremendous wealth and power, and one of the European centers of art, learning and science. Many of the homes date from the 18th century with roofs made of tiles glazed in terracotta, green, yellow and black. And indeed, it is the home of Dijon mustard from an 1856 recipe. After sightseeing the town and an independent lunch we travel to the town of Macon to board our river boat, for 5 nights. The boat is lovely and the food is great! Meals:B,D

Day 7 - CHALON-SUR-SAONE/BEAUNE
Today we sail to Chalon-sur-Saone and then continue by land to Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy. It is only one of the lovely, charming French cities you will visit. Our local expert guide will show you this historic walled city, highlighting its Hotel-Dieu, a building famous for its design. Wine tasting will complete your day before we return to our boat and sail down the Saone and Rhone Rivers towards Lyon. A delightful dinner aboard this evening. Meals:B,L,D

Day 8 - LYON
Awake in the morning docked in the city of Lyon, a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE. Its full of historical and architectural treasures and the renowned Halles de Lyon indoor market will dazzle your senses. Tour the Old Town and this afternoon take in the scenery of the Cotes du Rhone from the comfort of your cabin or any of the shop’s public spaces. Meals:B,L,D

Day 9 - AVIGNON
We dock in the city of Avignon, a city that has preserved its ramparts. See the great Palais de Papes built during the 14th century, where a total of 7 popes lived here during the Avignon Papacy. You may continue to explore Avignon on your own this afternoon or take an optional tour to Uzes, another UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE, home of the great Roman Pont du Gard. Day 10 - ARIES
Relax and savor the river scenery as we sail on to Aries where you can join an optional tour to the Camargue Nature Reserve. Learn about 400 bird species and this carefully protected area. An afternoon walking tour of Aries introduces you to the history and culture of this ancient Roman town. You’ll visit the Amphitheatre, once capable of seating over 20,000 people, it has hosted chariot races and gladiator battles. Later take in the stunning architecture as you stroll the streets that inspired artists such as Van Gogh. Tonight our Captain’s Gala Diner aboard ship. Meals:B,L,D

Day 11 - DISEMBARK SHIP - AIX-EN-PROVENCE - ANTIBES
Your journey continues in picturesque Aix-en-Provence. You’ll quickly see why this quintessential French city is enjoyed by visitors. Each turn seems to reveal colorful local markets, hundreds of fountains and a wealth of architectural treasures. Time at leisure before we continue to the seaside resort of Antibes. Meals:B

Day 12 - ANTIBES
The day is yours to explore this ancient port at your own pace. It was a fortified Greek town in the 5th century and later a Roman town. It has an Old Town which lets you wander through pretty, narrow streets and the red roofs of the houses make it even more picturesque. A lovely Farewell Dinner this evening celebrating an unforgettable journey. Meals:B,D

Day 13 - AIRPORT TRANSFER
Morning transfer to the airport for our return flight to Philadelphia where transportation will be waiting to return you to Wilmington, Newark and Independence. Meals:B
