Day 1 - GEORGETOWN/WILMINGTON/SEATTLE Morning departure take us to Philadelphia Airport to board our flight to Seattle. On arrival, transfer to our centrally located hotel. Dinner at a local restaurant this evening. Meals D ROOSEVELT HOTEL
Day 2 - SEATTLE/BOEING FACILITY A morning tour of this beautiful city including Pioneer Square and lovely neighborhoods before lunch at the famous Seattle Space Needle with breathtaking views of the city and harbor. Then drive north to Everett, where the Boeing Assembly Plant is located. See a digital light presentation and visit the assembly plant. Return to Seattle for an independent dinner. Day 3 - BUTCHART GARDENS/VICTORIA We'll board the Victoria Clipper, a high speed boat to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Visit Butchart Gardens, 50 acres that have been carefully transformed into one of the world's most s plendid and colorful gardens. Stroll through the Rose, Japanese, Italian and Sunken gardens with breathtaking roses, annuals and perennials in bloom. Enjoy lunch independently at the Gardens before returning to Victoria for time at leisure. Enjoy this beautiful, waterfront town with a distinctive harbor area before we return by the Victoria Clipper to Seattle. Meals Light breakfast on boat ROOSEVELT HOTEL
Day 4 - TACOMA/MOUNT ST. HELENS/CHEHALIS Begin the morning with a cruise of Seattle's harbor. Not far south of Seattle is the city of Tacoma, home to the Museum of Glass located in a dynamic modern building. Tour the facility, with docents located throughout to answer questions and then walk across the 500 feet long Chihuly's Bridge of Glass. Dale Chihuly is recognized as the world's premier glass artist and his glass sculpture can be found in over 150 major museums. Continue into Chehalis, Washington for overnight. Dinner tonight at Mary McCrank's Restaurant, famous throughout the area. Meals BD BEST WESTERN CHEHALIS
Day 5 - MOUNT ST. HELENS NATIONAL VOLCANIC MONUMENT
Until 1980, this mountain was one of Washington's snow-capped jewels which beckoned hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. On May 18, 1980 an explosion of incredible force blew the top, 1,313 feet, and much of the north face off Mount St. Helens, releasing a mile-wide avalanche that destroyed everything in its path, even clogging the Columbia River with logs and silt. Trees have been replanted and we will take you up the mountain to Johnson Ridge Visitor Center for a marvelous view of the area and a look at the exhibits of devastation caused by the eruption. It is an extremely beautiful area once again. Continue south to the lively and lovely city of Portland, where the Williamette River ambles through. Your hotel is centrally located. Day 6 - PORTLAND No doubt Portland will surprise you - it is delightful and one of the most desirable US cities to live in. Lovely neighborhoods, great restaurants, shops and friendly people. We have an especially selected guide with us for two days to show us his city, plus a tour of the Oregon Historical Society with the Director and a reception in the lively Madison Room. Day 7 - COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE/MT. HOOD/PORTLAND Following along the scenic route of the Hood River to the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, a geological wonder that allows the mighty Columbia River passage through the cascade Mountains. Stop at the Bonneville Dam where you'll see salmon swim their strenuous journey through elaborate fish ladders allowing them to migrate past the dam. See Multnomah Falls, a star attraction of the Columbia Gorge. We will also visit the Dalles, an unbelievable desert area of great contrast. return to hotel in the late afternoon. Day 8 - PORTLAND/HOME
Morning transfer to the airport for return flight to Philadelphia where transportation will be waiting to return to Wilmington. Meals B
