Day 7 - MONTEREY/SANFRANCISCO    Monterey is home to many special things including our naturalist guide, Gael, who will amaze you with her knowledge of the sea life, the picturesque 17 Mile Drive and the town. You’ll have a look at the famous Lone Cypress and many of the homes occupied by famous celebrities. After an independent lunch, we continue north to San Francisco for two nights.  Dinner this evening at Pier 39.  Meals:B,D

Day 3 -  SAN DIEGO/PALM SPRINGS, SIMI VALLEY  
Drive north to the fashionable resort city of  Palm Springs in the upper Colorado Desert. We’ll board the aerial tramway which provides you with 360 degree views as you are transported from the Valley Station two miles to San Jacinto Peak. Spectacular views await you and at the top lunch will be served.  Time for strolling and shopping downtown after your ride. Continue to the Simi Valley for two nights. Meals:B,L

Day 2 -  SAN DIEGO ZOO AND SIGHTSEEING      Fun today at the famous San Diego Zoo, a world-class zoo in Balboa Park. More than 4,000 animals live in enclosures simulating their natural environment. Included in your admission is a ride on a double-decker bus through the zoo and a ride on the aerial tramway from the entrance to the Elephant Odyssey that features elephants, jaguars and California condors. There is a Polar Bear Plunge with an underground viewing area, pandas, gorillas, camels (love those carefully engineered animals) and hundreds of other animals to delight you. Lunch on your own at your choice of several restaurants plus several shops. Afternoon finds you on a motorcoach tour of beautiful Coronado across the harbor. Return to our hotel. Dinner this evening at Tom Hamm’s Restaurant overlooking the harbor.  Meals:B,D

Day 4 - RONALD REAGAN LIBRARY
Sleep in a bit this morning before visiting the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. Experience his extraordinary life, the  Oval Office, glimpse fragments of the Berlin Wall, step aboard Air Force One, and enjoy the many exhibits that include dazzling objects that tell the story of the admiration for this 40th President.  Lunch included before returning to our hotel. Following departures drive to Philadelphia Airport for our non-stop flight to San Diego. On arrival transfer to our centrally located hotel for two nights. Light supper upon arrival at hotel.

Day 8 - NAPA VALLEY/SONOMA/SAN FRANCISCO                                     
Our local guide Rick will join us today as we drive north to the Napa Valley to the renowned
Benziger  Winery for touring of the estate and tasting of 5 estate wines. Lunch and time to explore in nearby Sonoma before returning to San Francisco for a short tour of the town with Rick.   Meals:B

Day 5 - GETTY VILLA/ SANTA BARBARA/SOLVANG  
Depart the Simi Valley for coastal Malibu and the Getty Villa, modeled after a first-century Roman country house, the Villa del-Papiri in Herculaneum, Italy. The villa immerses visitors in the ancient world with Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiquities. Special guides will delight you with their knowledge and interesting stories about the Villa and the Gettys.  Independent lunch here before we continue north to Santa Barbara, silhouetted against the Santa Ynez Mountains. See the Mediterranean architecture of this lovely city and the murals of this old court house, a jewel in this delightful coastal city. Meals:B,D

Day 6 - SOLVANG/HEARST CASTLE/MONTEREY 
From Solvang we follow Highway 1, the beautiful California coastline drive, stopping at the Pfeiffer Big Sur Park to see and learn about the giant redwoods that seem to reach to the sky. Continue to San Simeon and the great Hearst Castle, grandiose estate of publisher William Randolph Hearst for a guided tour. Later a look at the giant seals sprawled on the beach before reaching delightful Monterey, your home for tonight.  Dinner at a local restaurant.   Meals:B,D
