Day 2 - SAN ANTONIO
Your day begins with a fascinating tour of San Antonio. History and culture abound with a visit to the Mission San Jose, the second mission established by Fray Antonio Margil de Jesus in 1720. Fray Margil, Patron Saint of Texas, was a humble man and an exemplary Franciscan friar, and a fearless worker for the Church. The lovely San Jose Mission is the “Queen of the Texas Missions”. Next visit the Alamo, which played a critical role in the Texas Revolution where a heroic struggle against impossible odds was made. Later be surrounded by holiday cheer during your riverboat ride along the San Antonio River walk where you can admire the many holiday decorations. This evening visit the picturesque Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard located in the countryside outside San Antonio. Owner Sandy Winokur was a pioneer in bringing this ancient crop to Texas in 1998. Her orchard has grown to encompass over 11,000 trees where she insists upon producing extra virgin olive oil. The visit to the orchard is a learning experience led by Sandy herself, followed by a spectacular dinner at the orchard. Meals: B,D
