Day 7 - OGLEBAY RESORT/HOME                                                             
After breakfast at the resort, we depart for home, stopping enroute for an independent lunch. Arrival in Wilmington in the mid-afternoon, followed by Newark and Independence.   MEALS:B

Our morning drive takes us to Charleston, WV for a guided tour of the beautiful state Capitol building. This masterpiece of architect Cass Gilbert was completed in 1932. The outstanding feature is the rotunda’s dome 180 feet above the main floor. From its center hangs a 2-ton rock crystal chandelier 8 feet in diameter. Its is truly awesome. Continue to Wheeling, WV for dinner and overnight at the lovely Oglebay Resort.  MEALS:B,L,D

Cross the Ohio River this morning into Jefferson, Indiana to visit the historic, famous and colorful Schimpff’s Confectionary which began in its present location in 1891.You’ll learn the story of the family business and you can explore the candy store! What fun! Back to Kentucky where everyone wants to and does visit the famous Kentucky Derby Museum at Churchill Downs. After an independent lunch, we’ll tour the city with our guide. Return to our hotel to freshen up before our Spirit of Jefferson Dinner Cruise this evening on the Ohio River.  MEALS:B,D

An hour away is the city of Louisville, a cultural and high-tech city. We’ll begin our look at the city at the Louisville Slugger Museum where bats are made for the major league baseball teams, the first one was made in 1884. You’ll not only see their collection of memorabilia but also see bats being produced. Then visit the nearby Frazier History Museum, considered a gem among museums. There are many exhibits and collections including the intriguing Toy Soldier Collection, one of the largest in the U.S. A walk through the museum is a journey in time. Enjoy lunch before our afternoon glass works tour. Check into our hotel and relax before dinner and a musical at the famous Derby Dinner Playhouse. MEALS:B,L,D


Our guide will meet us and we’re off for Breakfast with the Works at Keeneland Race Course and a behind-the-scenes-tour. See the horses in their early morning workouts and where scenes from famous movies such as Sea Biscuit were filmed. At the Thoroughbred Horse Farm learn about the breeding, care and training that go into raising champion Thoroughbred race horses. Enjoy an independent lunch before a visit and tasting at one of the 200 bourbon distilleries in Kentucky. Then visit Old Friends Retirement Farm, a very special place for very special stallions who have earned their home here after their racing careers.   MEALS:B

​​Following departures we drive west to Farmington, PA to visit Kentuck Knob, a home built by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is owned by Peter Palumbo and his wife and they have  filled the home and grounds with their collection of art which includes artifacts from all over the world. Lunch in the Kentuck Knob Café before touring the home. Late afternoon check-in at the deluxe Nemacolin Resort Hotel. Dinner included at the Summit Restaurant this evening.


Day 2 -  FARMINGTON, PA/LEXINGTON, KY                                                
Depart after breakfast for the city of Columbus, Ohio. Lunch on arrival at the delightful Boat House Restaurant at Confluence Park. Continue after lunch to the city of Lexington, KY, your home for two nights. Dinner this evening at a local restaurant.   MEALS:B,L,D
