​​Day 7 - TOURING/COOKING/DANCING          
This morning visit the site of the famous Temple of Zeus. It contained the renowned statue of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Made of Chryselephantine (gold and ivory) it stood 43 feet high and was made by the sculptor Phidias. Then on to the original site of the Olympic games first held in 776 B.C., and the Museum. Then partake in a Mediterranean cooking experience followed by a traditional Greek lunch. Visit the countryside and this evening enjoy folkloric dances and a delightful Greek dance class.   Meals:B,L,D

Day 8 - MYCENAE - LlON GATE/TOLO 
Spectacular scenery as you cross the Arkadian Mountains to ancient Mycenae, one of the most important archaeological sites of Greece. The Mycenaean culture dominated mainland Greece during the late bronze era (circa 1600-1100 B.C.). Tour the excavations including the Lion Gate, located, excavated and restored in 1840, and the Beehive tombs. Your day ends in the picturesque seaside resort of Tolo.   Meals:B

Days 11, 12, 13 -  SANTORINI/ATHENS 
A marvelous way to end you vacation—2 nights on the fabled island of Santorini including a day of sightseeing at ancient Akrotiri, known as the “Minoan Pompeii”. Once a flourishing town, it was destroyed and preserved by a volcanic eruption around 1450 B.C.  Also visit a local winery to taste the unique and famous wines of Santorini. A guided, half day tour of this ancient city showcasing glorious monuments including the Acropolis, an ancient citadel located on a high rocky outcrop above the city. Day 5 - METEORA/ARACHOVA 
Visit two remote Meteora monasteries situated in a unique landscape of limestone rock “towers” that extend nearly 900 feet into the air. Byzantine monks chose to build their unique monastic community atop these virtually inaccessible rocks. Continue to charming Arachova, a popular ski resort with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.   Meals:B,D

Day  4 - THERMOPYLAE/BYZANTINE ICONS
Travel through central Greece into Thermopylae, a mountain pass site of famous battles in antiquity, the most famous being between the Greeks and Persians in 480 B.C. Stop to see the monument dedicated to Leonidas, who died defending the city against the Persians. Visit a local studio to see painters at work creating beautiful Byzantine icons . Oak and chestnut woods are used, the canvas is prepared and the background is created using genuine gold-leaf. The paint is applied using animal hair brushes, primarily beaver hair. Overnight in Kalambaka, a typical Greek town.   Meals:B,D

In ancient Delphi, a local expert guide takes you to visit the Sanctuary of Apollo, the Doric Temple and the Delphi Museum with its priceless collection of artifacts.
